We offer three different types of cylinder locks:
How do you know what you need? And what are the options? Firstly, there is the division between full and half cylinders.
Half cylinders
A half cylinder is a cylinder that only has a keyhole on one side, the other side is blind. These types of cylinders are used for doors that only need to be operated on one side and in all kinds of special applications, for example: in a beam espagnolette or key switch. The half cylinders are always at least four centimeters, or forty millimeters, long in total. We then speak of a 10/30. The thirty-side can be extended in increments of five millimeters. The driver, or locking bit, of our half cylinder locks is easily adjustable if necessary.
Knob cylinders
A whole cylinder can be a profile cylinder or a knob cylinder. A knob cylinder is a cylinder that has a knob on the inside instead of a keyhole. This button has a number of advantages: the door can always be unlocked without a key, very useful in emergency situations such as a fire, a key can never accidentally be left on the inside, preventing you from being able to operate the lock from outside, and In addition, it is always easy to lock the door without a key. It is important to note that the use of a knob cylinder is only safe to use in accordance with the guidelines of the Police Quality Mark for Safe Living if there is no glass without an SKG quality mark in the door. Otherwise it is too easy to open the door by breaking the glass. Make sure that you take the inside and outside dimensions into account when ordering your knob cylinders . If the cylinder is unequal-sided, for example 30/45, it is important that the knob is on the right side. Of course, you don't want the button to be on the outside.
Profile cylinders
A profile cylinder is the most commonly used cylinder. This is a standard cylinder that has a keyhole on both sides. These cylinders are standard sixty millimeters long, we then speak of a 30/30. These cylinders can also be extended in increments of five millimeters, so always measure carefully to determine the size you need. Profile cylinders can also be provided with an extra option; the emergency hazard function. With a cylinder with an emergency hazard function, a door can also be operated if there is a key on the inside. This is to prevent you from being unable to enter your house if the door closes with a key on the inside of the door. In addition, this option is often necessary when using an electronic cylinder control on the inside of the door, such as a Nuki, also known as smart locks. That is of course not entirely correct, it is only the operation of the lock.
