You are undoubtedly familiar with the SKG stars that are applied to hinges and locks. The number of stars shows how burglar-resistant the hinges and locks are.
Burglar-resistant hinges and locks are tested according to the NEN 5089 standard. The latest version of this standard was published in September 2009. This includes a change regarding the allocation of the number of stars. The star system has been adjusted so that a logical relationship is created between the resistance class of burglar-resistant windows and doors and the number of stars on hinges and locks. This makes using hinges and locks with stars a lot more logical. Especially in new-build homes, existing homes and other buildings.
The security guideline must be used to secure doors in existing (residential) buildings. This means that with hinges and locks with the SKG*** quality mark, a burglary resistance of at least 5 minutes is achieved.
The fact is that you do not have to have an SKG*** fitting and cylinder. If the fitting is SKG** approved, you use an SKG*** cylinder and vice versa.
